Books

Another good source of inspiration for me is books. When I am down or need a pick-me-up from life, I find that a good book can really uplift my spirit. Whether it is a book regarding “self-help”, such as fighting anxiety and depression, or even a fiction book that mentally takes me somewhere that isn’t reality. Usually a temporary break from reality really helps me to get myself back on track, because it is solid time that I can shut off the “stress-o-meter”, and drown out the tons of “weight” that is bogging down my mind.

As a quick background on me, I grew up as an only child. My parents, unlike myself, were very highly religious. I started out in public school until the end of 5th grade, at which point we moved away and I was home-schooled and in and out of different christian schools for the rest of my schooling. Needless to say, I didn’t have many friends (this was before the era of cellphones and social media). Honestly, other than 1 or 2 kids my mom wanted me to be friends with because she was friends with their parents, I really didn’t have anyone, and “forced friendships” didn’t really work for me. I’m sure I will post more about this topic at another time, however, if you wish to know more, feel free to comment on this post! Going back on topic, I remember when I was younger, about 12-16 years old, I LOVED “Chicken Soup For The Teenagers Soul“. I remember reading stories in there that made me feel like I couldn’t possibly be the only one who felt like I did. That was enough to keep me inspired for a bit. I suppose in some ways, reading about other children’s lives almost made me feel like for a few minutes I was a part of the experience, as strange as I am sure that sounds. I’ll include a link for Amazon if you are interested in the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series. I find that there are books to reach out to a wide array of people , no matter where you are on your path. I’ll also include a link on the “Products That Inspire Me” page.
