Welcome to my blog! I find that kindness is underrated in the world today. One smile can change someone else’s world, and one kind deed can change someone’s life and perception of it completely. I can speak for myself when I say that the quote, “Be kind. For everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about”, by Plato, really strikes my heart. There have been many times in my life, where I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders, and the only thing that helped me make it through the day was the kindness of another. They did not need to know my situation, nor did they really have to care what I was going through. What helped was that they took the time to acknowledge me, and in something as simple as a wave or a smile, they made me realize that I wasn’t so alone after all, and that in a mess of chaotic feelings, I felt cared about in that moment.
That same quote seems to dictate well how I try to treat everyone I meet, and it tends to pop in my head, even on my most grumpy of days. Everyone in the world is growing, and learning, and many are even suffering. It helps no one to be rude and snide to other people, especially people who just want to be acknowledged. You can never know what is in someone else’s heart or mind, or how what you say or how you treat them will ultimately impact them. Would you rather be someone who helps, or someone who hinders? I, myself, choose to help. I choose to inspire.
